The Atari Super Pong — Four Games, One Console
The Atari Super Pong (1976) expanded on the original Home Pong by offering four game variants — Tennis, Hockey, Handball, and Squash. Super Pong represented Atari’s response to competition from the dozens of Pong imitators that had entered the market, offering better value through game variety. It bridged the gap between the original single-game Pong consoles and the cartridge-based Atari VCS 2600 that would transform home gaming in 1977 by allowing any game to be played on any console through interchangeable software.
