The Mega Power 2 was an unlicensed Sega Mega Drive (Genesis) compatible clone console — one of many machines produced in Asia that used reverse-engineered hardware to play Sega’s 16-bit cartridges at lower prices than official Sega hardware. Mega Drive clones were particularly common in Brazil, Eastern Europe, and Asia where official Sega distribution was limited or where the official hardware was prohibitively expensive. The ”Mega” branding was a deliberate echo of Sega’s ”Mega Drive” name, and these clones often came bundled with built-in games alongside cartridge compatibility.
