The NEC PC Engine Core Grafx — Revised PC Engine

The NEC PC Engine Core Grafx, released in Japan in December 1989, was a revised version of the original PC Engine featuring improved RF and composite video output and a new dark grey colour scheme. The Core Grafx maintained full compatibility with the PC Engine’s HuCard library while improving display quality for the growing range of televisions with composite input. A Core Grafx II followed in 1991 with further refinements. These revised PC Engine models were sold in Europe as the ”PC Engine” (the original never reached Europe officially), making the Core Grafx the model most European PC Engine collectors typically encounter.
