The Sega Master System II — The Budget Master System
The Sega Master System II, released in 1990, was a budget redesign of the original Master System — featuring a smaller form factor without the card slot and with Alex Kidd in Miracle World built into the console’s ROM. The Master System II was designed for the budget market as the Mega Drive established itself at the premium end. In Europe it found a substantial market and remained in production for several years, benefiting from Sega’s strong European distribution network and the continuing popularity of the Master System library on the continent.
