The Palm Z22 — Palm’s Final Entry-Level PDA
The Palm Z22, released in 2005, was one of Palm’s last entry-level PDAs — a simple, affordable device running Palm OS 5.2 that offered the core PDA experience at a $99 price point. By 2005, the PDA market was in decline as smartphones began offering similar functionality with the addition of phone capability, and the Z22 represented Palm’s attempt to maintain the entry-level market with a genuinely simple, easy-to-use device. Its rechargeable battery, colour display, and streamlined interface made it an accessible introduction to Palm OS, but the Z22 was among the last dedicated PDAs that Palm would produce before the company pivoted entirely to smartphones.
