The Sharp 4600A — Windows CE Handheld

The Sharp 4600A was a Windows CE handheld PC — one of Sharp’s entries in the Windows CE handheld computer market of the late 1990s. Running Microsoft’s mobile operating system on a compact device with a clamshell or slate design, the 4600A offered Windows software compatibility in a portable format targeting business professionals. Sharp was one of the manufacturers that supported Microsoft’s Windows CE platform alongside Casio, Compaq, and HP, bringing the company’s hardware expertise to the growing Windows-based handheld market. Windows CE devices competed with Palm OS PDAs by offering familiar Microsoft software and desktop synchronisation through ActiveSync.
