Emerson Arcadia 2001 and Compatible Games — The Budget Console Family
The Emerson Arcadia 2001, released in 1982, was one of the most widely cloned game consoles in history — a budget alternative to the Atari 2600 that was manufactured by Emerson Radio and licensed to dozens of companies worldwide under different brand names. Using an Signetics 2650A processor, the Arcadia 2001 and its many variants were sold under names including Schmid 2000, Hanimex HMG-2650, Tele-Fever, and many others across Europe, North America, and elsewhere.
The Arcadia family’s game library consisted primarily of budget arcade conversions and original titles, reflecting the console’s positioning as an affordable alternative to more expensive systems. The many regional variants — each with slightly different game libraries and packaging — make collecting Arcadia-compatible software a genuinely international pursuit. This collection includes examples from several of the European variants, representing the platform’s presence in Scandinavian and European markets under local brand names.
