The Milton Bradley Vectrex — The Vector Graphics Console

The Vectrex, released in November 1982 by General Consumer Electronics (later Milton Bradley), was the only home game console ever to use vector graphics — drawing images using lines rather than pixels, producing sharp, precise graphics with a distinctive aesthetic impossible on raster display systems. The Vectrex included its own built-in 9-inch vector monitor, making it entirely self-contained. Its library of 28 official cartridges includes superb vector arcade conversions — Armor Attack, Cosmic Chasm, Rip Off, Star Castle — and original titles that showcased the unique visual style. Discontinued in 1984 following the video game crash, the Vectrex is today one of the most beloved and collectible consoles in gaming history, with an active homebrew community still producing new games.
