The Sharp Twin Famicom — Famicom and Disk System Combined

The Sharp Twin Famicom AN-500R, released in Japan in 1986, combined the Famicom console and the Famicom Disk System add-on into a single integrated unit — eliminating the separate disk system peripheral that standard Famicom owners had to purchase separately. Sharp produced several licensed Famicom variants for the Japanese market, and the Twin Famicom was the most distinctive — available in red or black finish. The Disk System compatibility gave access to disk-based games including the original Legend of Zelda, Metroid, and Castlevania in their Japanese disk formats. Sharp Twin Famicom consoles are today sought-after collector’s pieces representing licensed Famicom hardware at its most elegant.
