Gakken Konami Frogger — Licensed Arcade Handheld

The Gakken Konami Frogger was a licensed handheld version of Konami’s beloved 1981 arcade game — produced through a collaboration between Gakken’s handheld hardware expertise and Konami’s arcade game licence. Frogger, in which a frog must cross a busy road and treacherous river to reach home, was one of the most popular arcade games of the early 1980s and one of the first games to feature a non-violent, sympathetic protagonist. Licensed handheld versions of popular arcade games were highly sought-after products throughout the early 1980s, allowing players to experience their favourite arcade titles at home without coins.
