The Microsoft Surface Pro 4 — Refined and Improved
Released in October 2015, the Microsoft Surface Pro 4 refined the successful Surface Pro 3 formula with Intel’s 6th-generation Skylake processors, a thinner 8.4mm chassis, improved Surface Pen with 1,024 levels of pressure sensitivity, and a new Type Cover keyboard with larger trackpad. Surface Pro as Enterprise Platform
By the time of the Pro 4, Microsoft had demonstrated that the Surface Pro concept was commercially viable and technically mature. Enterprise customers were increasingly adopting Surface devices as laptop replacements, attracted by the form factor’s versatility, pen input for annotation and note-taking, and Windows 10’s improved touch interface. The Surface Pro 4 consolidated this position and established Microsoft as a credible premium PC hardware manufacturer — a remarkable transformation for a company that had previously left hardware to its partners.
