The Palm m515 — The Colour Transition Palm
The Palm m515, released in March 2002, was Palm’s premium handheld at a key moment in the platform’s evolution — bringing a high-quality transflective colour display to a slim, aluminium-bodied device that had been one of Palm’s most elegant designs. Running Palm OS 4.1 on a Motorola Dragonball VZ processor with 16 MB of RAM, the m515 offered the reliability and simplicity that Palm was known for in a premium package. The transflective display remained readable in bright sunlight — a significant practical advantage over competing devices whose displays became unusable outdoors. The m515 represented Palm’s colour PDA at its most refined before the OS 5 generation introduced ARM processors and significantly improved performance.
