The Psion Revo — The Slim EPOC Handheld

The Psion Revo, released in 1999, was Psion’s attempt to create a slimmer, more consumer-friendly EPOC handheld alongside the more professional Series 5mx. Using the same ARM processor and EPOC32 operating system as the Series 5mx but in a thinner, lighter form factor with a smaller keyboard, the Revo targeted users who wanted Psion’s software quality in a more pocketable package. The Revo Plus added 16 MB of RAM and improved connectivity. While the keyboard compromises made it less suitable for extended typing than the 5mx, the Revo’s slim profile and competitive pricing gave it a distinct market position in the late 1990s handheld computing landscape.
