The Toshiba 220CS — The Mid-Range Satellite

The Toshiba 220CS was a mid-range Satellite laptop from the mid-1990s, using a Pentium or 486 processor to deliver Windows 95 capability in Toshiba’s characteristic quality construction. The 220CS targeted the mainstream business and consumer laptop market with a balance of performance, weight, and price that made it competitive against offerings from IBM, Compaq, and the growing range of Asian laptop manufacturers. Toshiba’s Satellite line dominated the mid-range laptop market throughout the 1990s, and the 220CS was a representative example of the series’ commercial formula.
