The BMC TVG-5000 — Budget Television Game

The BMC TVG-5000 was a budget television game console from the late 1970s — one of the many Pong-derivative devices produced during the first wave of home gaming. BMC was among the numerous manufacturers who used General Instrument’s dedicated game chips to produce affordable gaming hardware for European and international markets. These budget consoles democratised home gaming by making electronic entertainment accessible at prices well below the major American brands, bringing the television gaming experience to families throughout Europe who could not justify the cost of an Atari 2600.
