The Interton VC 4000 — The European Multi-Console

The Interton VC 4000, released in 1978 by German company Interton Electronic, was one of the most widely cloned second-generation game consoles in Europe — its hardware licensed and rebranded by numerous manufacturers under names including the Acetronic MPT-05, Voltmace Database, Hanimex HMG-2650, and many others. Using a Signetics 2650A processor, the VC 4000 offered a library of cartridge games covering sports, action, and puzzle genres at prices below the Atari 2600. The console’s widespread licensing made it one of the most common game systems in European homes during the late 1970s and early 1980s, though its many variants make collecting the complete European family a genuinely international challenge.
