The Nintendo Color TV-Game — Nintendo’s First Console
The Nintendo Color TV-Game series, produced from 1977 to 1980, represents Nintendo’s entry into the home gaming market — the company’s first foray into electronic gaming hardware before the Famicom transformed Nintendo into a global gaming giant. The Block Breaker variant played Breakout-style games using dedicated chip technology of the era. These Color TV-Game consoles were sold only in Japan and are today extremely rare outside Japanese collections. They represent Nintendo at the very beginning of its gaming hardware journey — a humble starting point for a company that would become the world’s most celebrated game manufacturer.
