The Nintendo DSi XL — The Large-Screen DS

The Nintendo DSi XL, released in Japan in November 2009 and worldwide in 2010, featured significantly enlarged screens (4.2 inches versus the DS Lite’s 3 inches) designed for players who preferred a more comfortable viewing experience. The DSi XL also included built-in cameras and DSiWare digital download capability while removing the Game Boy Advance cartridge slot. Its larger form factor proved popular with older players and those who found smaller DS models uncomfortable for extended play, demonstrating Nintendo’s understanding that one hardware size does not suit all players.
