The Nintendo Game & Watch Donkey Kong Jr, released in October 1982, was based on the 1982 arcade game of the same name — notable as the game in which roles were reversed from the original Donkey Kong, with the ape’s son attempting to rescue his captured father from Mario. The Donkey Kong Jr Game & Watch used the Multi Screen clamshell format with two LCD screens showing different stages of the climb. As a faithful portable adaptation of a popular arcade title, the Donkey Kong Jr Game & Watch was one of the most commercially successful models in the series, and surviving examples in good condition are today eagerly sought by Game & Watch collectors.
